My name is Gretchen Falk. I came to the area aboard a 27-foot
sailboat in 1980, shortly after graduation from a college in my home
state of Rhode Island. As often is the story, I was enchanted by these
islands, first making Captiva my home then purchasing a house on
Sanibel.
As an avid boater it's not surprising that I soon became familiar
with Upper Captiva, just a short hop from home. Through association I
have been involved with the development of the island since the early
eighties, before electricity was brought to North Captiva. In 1986 I
became a realtor-associate with Priscilla Murphy Realty, one of the
oldest and most respected real estate companies in Southwest Florida.
In 1997, after returning from an around-the-world sail that was
partially funded by the purchase and resale of North Captiva lots, I
decided to make this island my permanent year-round residence.
Today, I am a licensed Florida Real Estate broker specializing in my
island. As a member of the National, State and Sanibel & Captiva Board
of Realtors®, I bring a high standard
of business practices to the real estate community. My clients also have
the benefit of the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), to which I subscribe.
The MLS affords listings nationwide exposure with other real estate
professionals who may have a buyer for your property. To those of you
who are thinking of island living, either full or part-time, it bears
repeating that I am an island resident. I know the ins and outs of
living on a barrier island that is only accessible by boat or private
plane. By
listening closely to your idea of life in paradise I can match you with
the most suitable property available. You'll still see me after the
papers are signed; we will be neighbors.
Thank you all for your time. I hope we will talk soon.
